Frequently Asked Questions
Starting a new project can raise a few practical questions, from costs and timescales to hosting, ownership and ongoing support. Here are answers to the things we’re asked most often. If there’s anything else you’d like to know, just get in touch.
Every project is different, but we publish guide prices so you have a realistic starting point before getting in touch. The final cost depends on the size of the site, the design work involved and any extra functionality needed.
The cheapest option we have is a single page website for around £440.
A small site may take a few weeks, while larger or more complex projects can take 2-3 months. Timescales depend on the size of the project, how much content is ready and how quickly feedback is provided.
Not at all. We’ll guide you through the process, explain things clearly and avoid unnecessary jargon.
Yes. We build online shops using WooCommerce, usually as part of a WordPress website. This can include products, payments, shipping, subscriptions and other selling tools.
Yes. We usually build sites in WordPress, which means you can edit pages, add news, update images and manage content without needing to ask us for every small change.
There is no special software required, you can do all this from your web browser and it’s no more complex than sending an email. We provide training as part of the handover and can carry out repeat training sessions if you need to brush up your skills.
If you don’t have time or are entirely non-technical we can make changes for you (note this is paid for service).
Yes. The website, content and design work created for you are yours once the project is paid for. We make sure domains, hosting and key accounts are set up properly.
Yes. We can help with the essentials, including your name, logo, domain, email, hosting and a clear website that explains what you do and helps people contact you.
Yes. We can host, maintain and support your website after launch, including updates, backups, security monitoring and help when you need changes. Note that due to varying technical requirements and plugin licence fees, we only host websites we develop ourselves.
(SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. It’s the process of helping search engines like Google understand your website, so your pages have a better chance of appearing for relevant searches).
Yes. We build websites with good structure, clear content, fast loading times and sensible technical SEO. We can also help with local SEO, Google Business Profile advice and ongoing content improvements.
For ongoing monitoring and SEO assistance we offer options as part of our project proposals.
Usually we need a rough idea of what you do, who the website is for, any existing branding, examples of sites you like and the key pages or features you need.
Yes. We can work with what you already have, suggest improvements where useful, and help fill any gaps with new copy, images or design work.
Yes, for our website and branding customers we offer two email mailbox options depending on their needs & budget. See the guideline pricing for more information.
Yes, both. Our first contact will usually be by phone and then we can arrange to meet up in person or online to discuss your project in more detail. We can also do the website training and handover online or face to face, whichever is more appropriate for you.
No. We work with clients across the UK, as well as in Switzerland, Germany, North Africa and Canada. Wherever you’re based, we’re happy to work with you, and can arrange face-to-face meetings and training further afield where they’re included within the project budget.
We invoice for a deposit payment of 40% at the start of the project with the balance becoming due when the project is complete (website is live / brand assets are delivered).
We accept bank transfer (UK & international), PayPal and credit/debit cards.
Most websites we develop include the first year of web hosting within the project cost. If email hosting is needed, we will include that in the quote too, so you know what to expect before the project starts.
After the first year, hosting is renewed annually. This covers the day to day running of your website, along with security updates, plugin updates, backups and minor support.
We include licences for the standard tools we use to build and maintain your site. If your website needs a specialist paid plugin, payment gateway, booking system or connection to another service, we’ll let you know about any renewal costs before they are due.
We usually only host websites we have designed and developed ourselves. This is because every website is built differently, using different themes, plugins, tools and update processes, and it isn’t always practical or responsible for us to support a site we don’t know well.
If you already have a website, we can still take a look and advise on the best next step. In most cases that might mean rebuilding the site before moving it to our hosting, so we can properly support it going forward.
